What is important in your role?
"In my role, it is important to ensure that planning runs smoothly, the right materials are available, and processes run efficiently and quickly. In addition, human contact is crucial; listening to people on the work floor and working together to see what they need to work comfortably."
What do you like about your work?
“The variety! No two days are the same, which can make it hectic at times, but above all challenging. It's great to be able to turn good ideas from the shop floor into reality. I help to improve processes and ensure that people feel safe and valued. In addition, the collaboration with colleagues is very pleasant. It really feels like a family business: people help each other and are involved, not only in the workplace but also outside of it. You really work as a team towards a common goal. I appreciate that and it gives me a lot of satisfaction.”
What is the highlight of your career?
“The trust I have been given in making the transition to this position is really special to me. When I started at VDL ETG as a recruiter, I never imagined that I would end up working in production myself. Now I am glad that I was given that opportunity and took the step. High-tech production is really something special. You work with innovative techniques and products that you didn't even know existed before. That makes the work incredibly interesting.”
What advice would you give to someone planning to apply for a job at VDL ETG?
“Be curious and ask questions! Everyone is willing to help if you show that you want to learn. You don't necessarily need to have a technical background; if you have an affinity for technology, are willing to be vulnerable and are open to new knowledge, you'll get there. And perhaps most importantly: be yourself. Individuality is valued here.”
